Snazzy new shoes

The Running Room was chaotic yesterday, no doubt because it's Race Weekend!

After much discussion with a very knowledgable person, I walked away with these - the Mizuno Wave Rider 13.

My old shoes were SO worn out.

It was like going from wearing cement blocks on my feet to walking on clouds. Unfortunately I don't have access to a treadmill, but I did wear them to my Lean and Fit class last night and although there was no running (I had to change into my outdoor shoes to do hills) and they were super comfy.

I got home and looked online just to check prices and I found them $20 cheaper in other store here in Ottawa. Called Running Room and they said they would price match - where they would call the other store and make sure they had my size, colour, etc... - so I may just return mine to Running Room and buy them from Bushtukah as they had them for the lower price in the first place!

I also picked up a Nike Sportsband. I've been back into running for a couple of weeks now and I'm starting to fall in love with it all over again. I loved loved loved my Garmin Forerunner (which is now dead because I left it in my running stroller a couple of years ago, for the whole winter, and now it drains a battery in less than a minute, so completely unusable) but am just not willing to fork out the money for it.

I'm trying to read reviews and decide if I want to keep the Nike SportsBand or not - it looks like it's simple enough, tracking how far you've gone, calories & time which is all I really need.

Do any of you have the Nike SportsBand? Is it worth it?

It's really only the distance I *need*. I like knowing how far I've gone. I keep on driving out different routes in my neighbourhood, but being able to just get out and run and keep going if a I feel like it is really appealing. And trying a new route every time may add just the variety I need. I DO live in the suburbs so any change is good :)

Looks like a neat gadget. I've been using the MapMyRun iPhone app for the same reason - I like to know the distance I've covered. Does not help if you don't have an iPhone though. :)
