That there is no leftovers, chocolates, cookies...anything of the sort in my house! The one good thing about not hosting anything durign the holiday season is there is no leftovers. And I haven't given into the sales of boxes of chocolates and yummy good stuff. Nada. Nothing of the sort in my house.
Certainly while we were socializing I wasn't the perfect WW girl, but I wasn't that bad either. My pants are a little tight, but I'm back on my A game today. I'm sending my hubby to the grocery store while Carson and I take a nap and I only have two more get-togethers between now and New Year's - and both are after dinner drinks, so I can be sure to eat healthy beforehand. Plus, I'm not drinking this season so it makes controlling my drink intake pretty easy.
I don't even know if we are goign out for New Year's. My parents have offered to babysit, but everyone is staying pretty lowkey and not to sound like a stick in the mud, but if I'm not drinking I don't see a point of staying out late and getting a sitter.
I'd like to hear people's impression of Wii fit. Jeff won a Wii through work (which is kind of funny, we're not really the video game type family) and the only game I would be interested in for me would be Wii fit. It's kind of alot of money though if it's not really worth it.

Trouble in paradise
I'm finding the time after work and before dinner to be quite impossible to NOT snack.
During this time, I make a little snack for my kidlet and start to make dinner. And I'm hungry. Tonight I ate two spoonfuls of peanut butter dipped in jam. Seriously. Isn't that sick? And while I was doing it, I actually thought to myself "Heck, I've eaten this, I may as well eat whatever I want to. I'll start my diet on Monday".
I haven't thought that in AGES. I've been maintaining my ten pound weight loss for a couple weeks and maybe it's because I haven't been losing or gaining... that my motivation has slipped, I've gotten too comfortable and then these old but apparently not forgotten thoughts re-enter my mind.
I was at the grocery store tonight (after going out to dinner with friends, I shared Carson's dinner and got an appetizer for myself and took half home) and was actually strolling down the CANDY aisle trying to decide between mini rolos and M&M's. I stopped in my tracks, shuddered and turned around without looking back.
Time to refocus. Time to remember why I want to lose these last ten-ish pounds.
Oh, this is my souglyitmaybenice sweater. I picked it up at Winners the other night and wasn't sure if it was ugly or nice. But I brought it home and I've taken quite a liking to it. Anyways, wore it to work and got lots of compliments so I'll keep it.

Because I'm a science nut
I like to see theories tested in controlled studies. So, I found this article quite interesting. As most things pertaining to weight loss, it always ends up being rather common sense. But I think I was at the ice cream store when the common sense in terms of eating was being handed out.
Over the past couple days I've started using the small plates to eat on. With my Carson-size spoons and forks. And you know what? It works. I start off with a smaller portion (and always tell myself if it's not enough I will get more) And what do you know - it's always enough!
I had been caught in the trap of "Well, I can eat more of it because it's healthy". But if I don't learn to portion all my meals (not just the "bad" ones) then I won't really be learning to eat less. Here's to smaller portions being the norm now and not the exception.

Somewhat survived
It's always a bit of a relief when a holiday is over so I don't have to stress about the eating part. Yesterday was a complete success! The turkey was delicious, the dressing was yummy, the potatoes, roasted veggies and desserts were all amazing. And the whole family made it - meaning 10 adults (there are 4 siblings) and 6 kidlets.
I put on a Hallowe'en treat scavenger hunt for the kids and only had 1 tootsie roll for myself. I had a few handfuls of roasted nuts (so bad for you but taste so good), instead of getting baguettes and dips (like we normally do) I cut up a bunch of veggies and served with low fat sour cream dip. So I stuck mostly to those. Dinner was served so I took a small plate and had two small servings.
Uh oh, then came dessert. Nadia made "better than sex" cake and it was delish! I had a piece of that, plus a piece of apple crumble and a spoonful of ice cream.
When everyone left I made them all take their desserts with them (forgot about the ice cream, d'oh, will have to throw that out) and I let them all take a big plate of leftovers so that I wouldn't have too much here. There's only so much I can do with turkey.
Today is supposed to be beautiful and despite being sick, I plan on spending the day outside. I had the most horrible sleep last night, I kept coughing/sneezing and stressing about work (will get into that later) and got maybe 3 hours sleep in total. Me thinks I'll be taking a nap when Carson does this afternoon.

Lazy Sundays
It's been a super busy weekend, I've been single-mom'ing it while Jeff was on a golf trip. We've been here, there and everywhere. My eating has been ok. Not stellar. Not horrible. Just ok.
Thank goodness tomorrow is Monday (did I really just say that?)
4 more weeks until I start my new job... weeehooo!
